Bone Conduction Auditory Navigation Device for Blind People

نویسندگان

چکیده

A navigation system using a binaural bone-conducted sound is proposed. This has three features to accurately navigate the user destination point. First, selection of bone-conduction device and optimal contact conditions between human head are discussed. Second, basic performance localization reproduced by selected with sounds confirmed considering head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) obtained in air-borne field. Here, panned technique that may emphasize also validated. Third, ensure safety navigating person, which most important factor visually impaired person voice guidance, an appropriate warning investigated. Finally, based on abovementioned conditions, we conduct auditory experiment guide announcement. The time required reach route shorter case information including reproduction, as compared only information. Therefore, be effective.

Indoor navigation systems for blind people

Indoor navigation systems must deal with absence of GPS signals, since they are only available in outdoor environments. Therefore, indoor systems have to rely upon other techniques for positioning users. Recently various indoor navigation systems have been designed and developed to help visually impaired people. In this paper an overview of some existing indoor navigation systems for visually i...

User Preferences for Auditory Device-driven Menu Navigation

A device-driven auditory menu interface that “pushes” the menu options to the user and requires minimal user input can be beneficial to users with both limited vision and input range. Presentation rate is important for auditory menus; they need to be slow enough for comprehension and responding, but fast enough to prevent frustration. User preferences for inter-item gap on an auditory device-dr...

Navigation System for the Blind: Auditory Display Modes and Guidance

The research we are reporting here is part of our effort to develop a navigation system for the blind. Our long-term goal is to create a portable, self-contained system that will allow visually impaired individuals to travel through familiar and unfamiliar environments without the assistance of guides. The system, as it exists now, consists of the following functional components: (1) a module f...
